On July 27th 2014 Bexhill will be hosting a big new family friendly motorcycle festival called the Bexhill Motofest which will bring the motorcycle sport back to the town for the first time since 1924.
The Japanese motorcycle sport of Moto Gymkhana will host Round IV of the UK national championships on the De La Warr Pavilion car park while Shaw Harley Davidson will be presenting an exclusive Motorcycle as Art exhibition on the De La Warr Terrace.
Bexhill Lions are putting on a family funfair and beachside barbecue. The whole town is gearing up for a very exciting day that it is hoped will bring several thousands visitors to Bexhill.
Rother District Council, Sussex Police, The Town Team, Bexhill Chamber of Commerce, Bexhill Lions, the DLWP, Bexhill 100 and the Bexhill Museum are all backing the event and looking forward to the economic boost it is expected to bring to the town.
Motorcycle tourism is now a billion pound industry that attracts affluent and influential leisure lifestyle visitors. The Motorcycle Industry Association estimate that a motorcycle enthusiast has approx £68 per day discretionary spend on event visits. Many coastal towns like Poole, Paignton, Southend and Scarborough run successful biker events that bring millions of pounds to their local economies.
To accommodate this substantial increase in investment in the town that Bexhill Motofest will bring in, plans have been made for the closure of De La Warr Pavilion car park and change of use for some of the roads in the area on July 27th which we will update you with nearer the time.
