Local MP Amber Rudd has written about this years Hastings Job Fair which is being held at Sussex Coast College on the 14th March. Read on.
It is good news that unemployment in Hastings and Rye has fallen by 26% over the past year but there is still much more to do. We need to continue to grow our manufacturing sector in Hastings and to attract more businesses into the town to create varied opportunities for our community.
We can do that by delivering fast broadband, better road and rail communications and continued investment in the area. That is already happening and we are all beginning to feel the positive results.
However, there are also important things we can do right now to help local people into meaningful jobs. So far, the Hastings Job Fair has been held twice at the Sussex Coast College Hastings. The aim being to bring employers and jobseekers together alongside workshops ranging from CV-building to interview skills.
The annual Hastings Job Fair were great successes on the two previous occasions. Over 30 organisations had stands, and several reported that they have hired people directly as a result. After last year’s Hastings jobs fair, 22 people got jobs as a direct result.
The third annual Hastings Job Fair is at the Sussex Coast College Hastings again, on 14th March from 10 am to 3 pm.
If you’re looking for work, apprenticeships or a change of career, come along – there are real jobs on offer and people are there to help you get hired.
And if you’re a local employer with jobs who has not yet signed up, then you can do so by calling 01424 441833 today. There are limited stands available.
