The Mcphersons team had yet another reason to bring in the cakes this week as David Winchester, Associate Director, reached his 40 year milestone with the business. David, who started as an accounts trainee in January 1974, has seen the business go from strength to strength over the years but which changes are the most significant for him?
“Back in 1974, when I started working for Mcphersons (then White Withers Accountants) as an accounts trainee, there were no computers and all and all accounts work was painstakingly completed using pen and paper. Now, each desk has a minimum of two monitors, the entire business works ‘on the cloud’, we can work from anywhere in the world to the same standard, we have a Mcphersons app, a strong social media presence and communicate with our clients electronically. The only thing that remains the same is that we are still people – and people do business with people they trust. I can name a few clients that have also reached their 40 year anniversary with mcphersons and this is something to shout about!”
Mcphersons are proud of their low staff churn. They achieve this by listening to what their team wants and moving with the times.
Staff benefits include flexitime and dress down Fridays, incentives that are usually only available from large corporates and offering these kind of incentives doesn’t cost a thing but greatly increase productivity and staff morale.
