Sussex Coast College was a sea of colour earlier this week after students from over 60 different countries proudly waved their national flag in the stunning college atrium.
The college now proudly boasts student representatives from countries in Africa, such as the Congo, Ivory Coast, Tanzania and Uganda, Asia, including Bangladesh, Bhutan, Iran and Iraq, almost every country in Europe, North and South America and Australia.
College Principal, Clive Cooke, said:
“What a fantastic and diverse mix of people, all eager to learn and contribute to college life. At Sussex Coast College Hastings we value our international students greatly. They add a vibrancy and lively element to the campus and help to enhance and build cultural links within Hastings and the surrounding areas.”
The students at Sussex Coast College study academic courses such as A-levels – the college achieved a 100% success rate this year – the world renowned International Baccalaureate and widest possible variety of vocational courses.
Hawa Sulaiman, 27, from Kurdistan, studying for the International Baccalaureate said:
“Studying at Sussex Coast College is fantastic. The college is a great place to learn and people in Hastings are really friendly. The teaching here is also excellent, which really helps me in my studies.”
Cristina Ferrer Lϋgstenmann from Barcelona is studying General English at the College. She said:
“I really enjoy studying in Hastings. There’s great access to shops, transport, evening entertainment and even the beach! The College is wonderful too, there is nothing like this learning experience in Spain.”
