Hastings has just missed out on being short listed for the 2017 city of culture bid.
Hastings was one of 11 towns, cities and regions vying for the prestigious 2017 City Of Culture accolade with the nearest bidding rival, East Kent, also not making it through to the final four.
Congratulations, however are due to Dundee, Leicester, Swansea Bay and Hull who are the finalist for the 2017 bid and whilst Hastings has not got through this time, the media exposure and awareness generated by being a contender should benefit the town and region as a whole.
A huge momentum of support, ideas and dialogue had gathered locally in support of Hastings bid. The council and its partners are determined to build on this very positive work put in by everyone involved.
The council will be holding a public symposium on the 15th July at the De La Warr Pavillion, Bexhill on sea, to discuss how the momentum from the bid will be kept up. It will start at 10am with refreshments available from 9.30am.
