Over 1000 people joined together on Saturday 7th June to commemorate the 70th D-Day anniversary to spell out ‘Lest We Forget’ on Hastings Pelham beach.

The image is poignant reminder of the sacrifices that were made by the young soldiers who disembarked the landing craft on that fateful day in Normandy, many of whom never returned.

The day ended with a fly by from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the image below has been shared thousands of times on Facebook and other social media sites.

To commemorate the 70th Anniversary of D-Day Hastings will centre stage for the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight today and the best place to see it will be at Pelham Beach on Hastings seafront where over a thousand people are expected to come together to spell out ‘Lest We Forget’ at 3pm with the Britain Memorial Flight display expected a little while later.

It will be a great day, even if the weather doesn’t hold out in favour of blue skies, however, as always, it will be a sight to see the majestic Spitfire, hurricane and Lancaster flying over the town and is sure to attract visitors from across the region to witness and pay their respects to the soldiers who sacrificed so much 70 years ago.

However, that’s not all, leading up to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight there will festivities throughout the town starting from around midday so will be a great day out for all.

The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will be flying over Hastings on the 7th June.

As you can imagine, these rare planes will be drawing in the crowds and will attract visitors from far and wide to see these iconic planes flying over the town and will provide a much needed tourist boost to the town.
