The Westfield based family-owned vineyard has won a valuable order to supply Combe Haven with hampers which welcome their hundreds of caravan buyers to their caravan park in St Leonards.

The hampers feature the prize-winning 1066 white wine made from grapes grown on the picturesque vineyard just 6 miles from Combe Haven on the A28 to Rye just outside Hastings.

Uniquely the hampers include a vineyard tour and wine-tasting gift voucher so that recipients may visit the vineyard and see where their wine originates.

Chairman David Carr Taylor told Business in Hastings ‘We love to show-off the local produce the area has to offer, whether it is Sussex honey or Hastings chocolate or one of our range of still and sparkling wines. I know visitors are amazed by the diversity of fine products available on their doorsteps now they have chosen to frequent the area.’

The Carr Taylor Vineyard is open every day from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. and offers free wine-tasting.  Guided tours with a tutored wine-tasting, with or without a buffet lunch, are run frequently all year and gift vouchers are available.  Hampers can be made to order and can be sent to any mainland UK address.

After a plethora of awards last year the Carr Taylor Vineyards in Westfield, Hastings has added another trophy to its growing number.

This award, for Viticulture (that’s grape growing to me and you) follows on from awards for Tourism, Business and Sparkling Wine Production.

Linda and David Carr Taylor

Director Linda Carr Taylor said after the prestigious awards ceremony in the Grand Connaught Rooms, London; ‘Forty years ago everyone laughed when we ploughed up all our vegetables and planted the vines, but all the hard work and trials have been worthwhile. We were the first English Vineyards to exhibit in Paris, and we continually prove we can match anything the French can offer during expert wine-tastings.

But don’t take Linda’s word for it; the Carr Taylor Vineyard in Westfield is open every day from 10.00 to 17.00 hrs for free wine-tasting.
