Check out the video to have a look at this years successful Jobs Fair.

The annual Hastings jobs fair returns on the 26th February 2016 and is being held at Sussex Coast College.

Local MP Amber Rudd has run the free entry jobs fair for the past five years and this year alongside jobs on offer they are also focusing on apprenticeships.

So far there are 25 companies and organizations attending so will be a great day for those that are looking for work or are interested in being an apprentice.

If you are looking to employ or offer an apprentice position within your company, then you may also be able to exhibit on the day. You can call the event organizers, Events Office on 01424 441833.

Alternatively you can have a look on the events site here.

The annual Hastings Jobs Fair, will be returning to the Sussex Coast College Hastings. on Friday 27th March, 10 till 3.  This will be the fourth year the event has been running for in the town.

Amber Rudd MP, who is the host of the event said:

“I am delighted to be hosting my fourth jobs fair in Hastings. Last year we had 30 local businesses with a total of 160 vacancies on offer.”

“There has been a 44% fall in unemployment since May 2010 when I was first elected as your MP, from 3,502 claimants to 1,959 in January 2015. There has also been a 48% fall in youth unemployment. Whilst these figures are excellent news, we cannot be complacent.  I recognise that it can be difficult to find a job if you don’t know what opportunities are available, if you feel you need to improve your skills or if you haven’t been in work for some time. This is why I am continuing to hold my jobs fairs for the people of Hastings that are still finding work hard to find.”

Last year 26 job seekers were recruited at the fair and 143 followed up on apprenticeship training schemes.

Comments from the exhibiting companies were extremely positive about the whole event.

Lloyds TSB ‘Fantastic event and great for networking.’

Sainsburys ‘A great opportunity to engage with people face to face. We successfully recruited from the day.’

Avanta, ‘Made great new connections and secured business in excess of our expectations.’

We expect this to be the best year yet and would like you to be a part of it if: you have vacancies to fill, apprenticeship or training schemes please contact us on: 01424 441833 or visit the web site: http://www.hastingsjobsfair.co.uk for more details.

Amber Rudd talks to recruiters from Hastings Direct.

“There were fantastic opportunities available at the Hastings jobs fair and a great buzz of enthusiasm and excitement at the College for my Jobsfair,” said Amber, “Lots of local people met some of our best employers and told me how excited they were by the variety of companies there.  I am so grateful that so many companies supported the day.”

Companies such as Sainsbury’s, Hastings Direct, Aldi and Lloyds Bank were all recruiting on the day from the steady stream of jobseekers who attended. People of all ages were there, eager to talk to the companies and attend the mock interviews, getting advice and finding out about the jobs and apprenticeships on offer.  “I conducted one of the mock interviews myself,” said Amber, ” as I know from my experience in recruitment how important it is to get good practice before the real thing.  I am really grateful to Dave Hinton from Hastings Works for running the sessions.”

The feedback from businesses and companies exhibiting was incredibly positive: 35 jobs were pledged to Avanta and the Federation of Small Businesses and Azure Marina arranged 70 interviews and will be following up with a further 80 job seekers.

Amber commented “I am pleased that so many people were there to make the most of everything. There were some great success stories with huge numbers of people getting interviews and lots of people commenting on how useful they found the advice on offer.”

“Supporting local businesses and helping people find jobs are major priorities for me as an MP, the jobs fair was a great opportunity to do both of these things. I hope that everyone who attended the Fair was able to find something they needed.”

Local MP Amber Rudd has written about this years Hastings Job Fair which is being held at Sussex Coast College on the 14th March. Read on.

It is good news that unemployment in Hastings and Rye has fallen by 26% over the past year but there is still much more to do.  We need to continue to grow our manufacturing sector in Hastings and to attract more businesses into the town to create varied opportunities for our community.

We can do that by delivering fast broadband, better road and rail communications and continued investment in the area. That is already happening and we are all beginning to feel the positive results.

However, there are also important things we can do right now to help local people into meaningful jobs.  So far, the Hastings Job Fair has been held twice at the Sussex Coast College Hastings.  The aim being to bring employers and jobseekers together alongside workshops ranging from CV-building to interview skills.

The annual Hastings Job Fair were great successes on the two previous occasions.  Over 30 organisations had stands, and several reported that they have hired people directly as a result.  After last year’s Hastings jobs fair, 22 people got jobs as a direct result.

The third annual Hastings Job Fair is at the Sussex Coast College Hastings again, on 14th March from 10 am to 3 pm.

If you’re looking for work, apprenticeships or a change of career,  come along – there are real jobs on offer and people are there to help you get hired.

And if you’re a local employer with jobs who has not yet signed up, then you can do so by calling 01424 441833 today. There are limited stands available.
