Taste of Hastings day in the Houses of Parliament

Amber Rudd MP will be hosting a ‘Taste of Hastings’ day on 14th July.

To celebrate all of the wonderful local food and drink available in the Hastings and Rye area, Amber is inviting local businesses and producers up to Westminster to display and advertise their produce alongside other successful businesses from the area.

The Taste of Hastings day will be a chance to introduce your food and drink to new audiences and demonstrate what makes Hastings and Rye such a gourmet hotspot.

If you have any local culinary delights that you would are keen to show and would like to join Amber for the Taste of Hastings day on 14th July between 11:00am – 2:30pm, please get in touch with elishab.walia@parliament.uk, letting us know a few more details about your business.

So, your business is doing great and your attracting interest from companies from overseas and a face to face meeting is needed to seal the deal and at this point your probably asking the question, ‘What is the best Business Etiquette to use with them’ as how you come across at home as polite might have the opposite effect with foreign partners. Whilst this is a fear for many of us, this great infographic should help you avoid these cultural mistakes that could cost your business orders and profits.

Check it out.

Over 1000 people joined together on Saturday 7th June to commemorate the 70th D-Day anniversary to spell out ‘Lest We Forget’ on Hastings Pelham beach.

The image is poignant reminder of the sacrifices that were made by the young soldiers who disembarked the landing craft on that fateful day in Normandy, many of whom never returned.

The day ended with a fly by from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the image below has been shared thousands of times on Facebook and other social media sites.

Nominet, the UK authority that deals with domain registration (for anything that ends in .uk) is launching the new .uk domain prefix that is aimed at making UK sites a bit shorter and snappier to get to and will bring us in to line with other countries such as France (.fr) and Germany (.de)

Get your .uk domain from the 10th June

If you have a .co.uk, .org.uk, .gov.uk or similar web address you will be able to pre-order now, however, don’t fret as you have up to the 10th June 2019 to register the .uk domain if you already have the .co.uk one. Basically if you have a .co.uk address you don’t have to do anything yet unless you want your .uk domain as soon as possible.

If someone else has the .co.uk and you have for example a .org.uk and you both owned it before the cut off date then the person who has the .co.uk address will have the rights to the .uk domain version as this is regarded as a higher value domain.

For new registrants of .co.uk domains, the official time when they will be available is 8am on the 10th June 2014 and according to 123reg, the UK’s largest domain registrar, each .uk domain will cost around £12. If you use a different provider please check with them as prices will possibly vary from provider to provider.

You can find out more by visiting Nominet’s new sub site that’s dedicated to the .uk domain launch here.
