Magnetic Business Development is a marketing company which generates business leads for its customers to help them expand. It was set up in 2005 and delivers business development services including tele-canvassing, web site design, search engine optimisation, material production and social media advice.

Magnetic Business Development’s Managing Director, Ebony Varney, explains: “I’d been running my business in Bexhill for 12 years and it was time for a fresh environment. I’d viewed several dark, dingy offices before seeing Pacific House, which just felt like the perfect place for us. It’s bright and comfortable – an aspirational office where I knew we’d enjoy working and I’d be happy to welcome clients.”

East Sussex Outpatient Services (ESOPS) is an independent healthcare provider working with the NHS. Patients can be referred to ESOPS by their GP for expert outpatient treatment. It specialises in general and colorectal surgery, dermatology, ear, nose and throat, gastroenterology, gynaecology, ophthalmology, urology and, for patients registered with a GP in the Hastings or Rother area, orthopaedics.

ESOPS had been based in the South Cliff area of Eastbourne. It has now moved to Pacific House and sees patients in the Harbour Medical Centre 50 metres away. It has 10 management and administrative staff and 26 medical consultants.

Stephen Cotton, Business & Operations Director at ESOPS, explains: “We’ve moved to Sovereign Harbour because it’s so accessible for our patients, who no longer have to travel to the centre of Eastbourne. The Harbour Medical Centre is a modern facility with a minor operations theatre, while Pacific House is a contemporary, aesthetically-pleasing office building with excellent amenities. The landlords are extremely helpful, too”.

Unity Care Solutions provides home-based support for children and adults in Eastbourne and Maidstone, Kent. The company’s 120-strong team includes registered children’s nurses and care workers specialising in learning disabilities.

The organisation has been based in Eastbourne town centre for 11 years and is now moving to Pacific House for its accessible location, easy parking and modern facilities.

Maria Bolton, Managing Director of Unity Care, explains: “We’ve been in very dated premises in the town centre and are extremely excited about moving to Pacific House. It’s providing a big boost for our team.

“I was bowled over when I first walked into the building and instinctively knew it was right for us. It’s modern, bright, has plenty of parking and rooms we can hire for meetings and training as and when we need them. It will also be great to be part of a thriving community of companies within the building – including several in the care sector like us.”

South Central Ambulances NHS Foundation Trust was established in 2006 from the merger of four separate ambulance services. The organisation provides ambulance response to 999 calls, the NHS111 medical telephone advice line and non-emergency patient transport.

It handles over 500,000 urgent calls each year across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, and Oxfordshire. It also receives around 1.3 million calls to the NHS111 number and provides over 500,000 non-emergency patient journeys. It has recently become the provider of non-emergency patient transport in Sussex and Surrey.

The organisation now has 48 staff in Pacific House, which it says it chose because “The offices are secure, the facilities are ideal for the team and it’s in a prime location”.

havelock place hastingsCompanies can now get top quality new offices in East Sussex on ultra-flexible terms in a pioneering move to address the Brexit market.

As part of the economic development programme for the area, Sea Change Sussex has introduced a three-month notice period in its leases which, innovatively, can be served by occupiers at any time. This is designed to provide an exceptional degree of flexibility for companies facing unknown market conditions as the UK plans its EU withdrawal.

These new terms are available as part of three-year leases for Sea Change’s small and medium offices in:

  • Havelock Place, Hastings: the high-quality development in the Priory Quarter town centre business district, with eligible units from 541 to 1,659 sq ft
  • Pacific House, Eastbourne: the contemporary new business centre in Sovereign Harbour, with units available from 627 sq ft upwards
  • A forthcoming business centre on the Bexhill Enterprise Park, with units from 600 sq ft upwards pre-letting now.

John Shaw, CEO of Sea Change Sussex, says: “Companies are telling us they still want to invest and grow following the EU referendum, but they feel the economic road ahead will be less certain for some time. So we’ve introduced new leases which means they can have the quality of new premises they want along with an extremely high level of flexibility to react to market conditions as they unfold.”

Smokescreen Visuals is an award-winning video production company with clients including the NHS, Activision, Craft Guild of Chefs and The London Mint Office. The company was founded by Matt Derbyshire in 2004 after returning to his home town of Eastbourne following a London career making TV and cinema trailers.

The company has fit out its new offices (photos available) to a high standard including three hi-tech video editing suites. Its new base has enabled it to more than double its number of employees and it plans to continue expanding.

MD Matt Derbyshire explains: “We were on the outskirts of Eastbourne and had been looking for new premises for five years – but couldn’t find anything with the right feel until now. Pacific House is like nothing we’ve ever seen before in the area. A building of cutting-edge design and facilities, plenty of parking and good security – it’s what we’ve been waiting for all this time. It’s the ideal environment to enable us to keep on growing.”

Chestnut Tree House provides hospice care for children and young people with life-shortening conditions.

It has taken two offices for its East Sussex team of nurses, fundraisers and volunteers to enable it to expand – with desks for 20 staff in the building. Its new base is intended to help it to reach more families, raise awareness of its work and attract new supporters.

Tracey Luker, Head of East Sussex Fundraising, said: “We’re caring for around 55 children and young people in East Sussex but there are many more who need our specialist help. Our move to Pacific House gives us more room to accommodate our growing service, better access to major transport routes and a pleasant working environment in a modern, well-equipped building.”

The charity is keen to recruit more volunteers, whether on the basis of a regular commitment or a few occasional hours. Anyone interested should contact 01903 871800 or enquiries@chestnut-tree-house.org.uk.
