Hastings based MSL Projects, in partnership with the Port of Dover, has delivered an installation entitled Centenary: A Long Weekend, as part of a six year programme aiming to tell the story of WW1 in real time from the perspective of Dover. The installation was presented in the Cruise terminals, during August and September 2014.
Using Augmented Reality, an exciting new application of digital technology, MSL created two pieces – both telling the story of how Dover was affected by the War, engaging audiences with real life stories of people at home.
Centenary: A Long Weekend received rave reviews from cruise customers from over 20 ships, specially invited guests who are now potential clients MSL hopes to be able to take the technology further with potential applications in tourism, culture, heritage, and regeneration (to name but a few).
Further installations are planned for late spring 2015, and in the second half of 2016. A Long Weekend is likely to be open to the public later this year – with a downloadable app being available in the near further.
