The Bexhill Giants Basketball Club was founded in 2001 with the objective to provide sporting, educational and life changing opportunities to young and disadvantaged people though basketball, team work and discipline. They are a self-funding club raising funds through sponsorship, and membership fees with a men’s team in the Sussex Basketball League and offer free coaching sessions to local youngsters.
In 2013 they were invited to host the touring USA Select Basketball organisation as part of their European exposure tour. Due to the great success of the exhibition match and free youth coaching clinic, USA Select returned again in September 2014, bringing 36 top American players to compete in two exhibition matches and an International Tournament staged in Bexhill.
This August and November they hosted two more International Tournaments featuring Canadian team Toronto Knights and USA’s Lake Michigan Admirals respectively. The Lake Michigan Admirals included the ‘World’s Tallest Basketball Player, Bob Wegner in their team. YouTube footage and press coverage of tournament was syndicated worldwide promoting the event.
As a result of the raising their profile on an international stage they received a number of requests from overseas teams to come to Sussex and play in their tournaments.
A decision was taken to host the World Invitational Club Basketball Tournament this September 2015, which will see men’s teams from USA, Canada, France, Turkey, England and Spain, competing over 2 days in Bexhill to become World Club Champions.
In order to stage this great event they require sponsors to help with funding, with the excellent benefits for the right companies to promote their brand, through their extensive and active social media network, national press and TV and radio exposure and in addition to supporting a fantastic community event.
